I recently reached out to InCar Automotive to inquire about their pricing for pre purchase inspection, particularly in comparison to other providers. My intention was to understand the value offered for the higher cost. Unfortunately, my experience was not as expected. Before I could fully explain my query, Carl responded abruptly, suggesting I find service elsewhere. This interaction felt unprofessional to me, especially as a customer who values detailed information before purchasing a service. While I understand the pressures of the automotive service industry, customer engagement is essential, and I believe this aspect could be improved at InCar Automotive.

You will not find a more thorough vehicle inspector. Made it so easy too, Carl managed all the liaising with the dealership. Will be recommending him far and wide, and use him for all our future vehicle purchases.

Amazing service. He checked our Toyota aqua before buying - sent hundreds of pictures from various parts of the car and very detailed reports. Attached a summary at the end for a quick overview. Great service if you want a hybrid checked. Simply amazed by his work and how easy it was to get an appointment. Price was absolutely fine as well - 240 dollars. Very very thorough. Carl will capture every tiny detail that is on your car. He pointed out over a dozen things that I couldn’t spot by looking closely with my own eyes. He also provides a comprehensive report - should you need to prove the true condition of your car during a sale, Carl’s comprehensive report details it all. He will even deal directly with the dealer and also after the inspection is done, Carl keeps in touch and makes sure that the transaction with the dealership goes alright. Carl said “if they have an issue with the report, get them to call me and I’ll sort it out. Even the dealership said Carl was friendly to deal with. when you’re buying a car for the long run, don’t skimp out with a cheap inspection, get it done properly with Carl!!! And yes, I literally found this guy just by doing a quick google search. A++ would highly recommend.

Carl recently did a comprehensive used vehicle pre purchase inspection for me. I'm currently living in Australia and the service was exemplary. Not only did he do the inspection at very short notice but I received a large number of photos, videos and diagnostic information. He tied it all together with a very full summary. Based on his assessment I did not purchase the vehicle and felt the price paid was a small investment which saved a huge possible loss. Carl has done 2 inspections of hybrids for me. He was super-efficient, professional and reasonably priced, and provided incredibly detailed reports, including a video of the hybrid battery tests. He also went out of his way for me in his own time when I came back to him with further questions. I can't recommend him highly enough.

The inspections were a great help! If you need peace of mind purchasing any car, I strongly recommend his services. Carl saved me from buying a Lemon from a dealership, and also offered me part of a refund! I think what Carl does is excellently thorough...just know that this is what you'll get...a very thorough report! I personally found it all a little too much to understand and come to a final decision on the car. This isn't really a critique, as who doesn't want a very thorough inspection!

I had been looking at a extremely tidy looking 8 year old 'NZ new' car with a full dealership service history and I almost bought it without a professional inspection. First time I’ve had a pre purchase car inspection so wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I was totally impressed by how comprehensive and detailed the assessment and report was not to mention the great communication and efficient service.

Used Incar Automotive due to stunning reviews and he didn't disappoint, the car from the dealer was 4.5 Japan import grade and Carl with a c found issues they needed to fix. Of course with it came a thorough test log, extensive pictures and videos and finally a summary of all of the car. The time and cost saved from the fix was alone was well worth the price for the inspection, not to mention the excellent and prompt responses to follow up questions from the report. The summary also detailed things that I should potentially watch out for while getting it serviced next, not just immediate or near term fixes. These things will likely be helpful for those buying while keeping longevity in mind. Afterwards, I went ahead with the purchase with a peace of mind. Cheers, will definitely recommend to anyone buying a used car and will definitely work with Incar Automotive again for my next used car purchase.

I was considering the purchase of a Audi S6 but needed to find someone independent to assure me I wasn't buying a lemon given these vehicles are complicated with a lot going on in them. Had a wonderful experience with Carl's inspection service yesterday. Long story short, Carl inspected 2 vehicles in total, at 2 different locations. The 1st vehicle has an major issue, he stop the inspection immediately & did not charge a full payment. He even go the extra mile for me to inspect the 2nd vehicle at the other location dispite his busy schedule. Carl is very honest. I choose option 2 EV inspection, however when he found a major issue with the vehicle he stop the inspection immediately. I believe others might have gone through the entire inspection & let you know after together with a full payment. Incar automotive is "sweet as"! Carl was phenomenal. We are from NYC and wanted to buy a campervan to travel NZ. No one was open because it was holiday season, but Carl saved us. We needed our van inspected and he got straight to work as soon as he arrived and provided info about the "what and why" he was doing. Very honest and took care of a few small fixes at a fair price afterwards. I even called him by accident a few days later and he asked "how is she running" and what to keep an eye on. Carl is the man! Rang up Carl on a Sunday to see if Carl could do a pre-purchase inspection ASAP as we desperately wanted to close the deal on a car before anyone else bought it. Despite some prior miscommunications of our own fault, Carl maintained the highest level of professionalism and went out of his way to re-arrange his busy schedule to accomodate us. Initially he said he was fully booked until Thursday, but on Monday (less than 24 hrs since I called) he found a way to do the inspection and we closed the deal with the seller on the same day. His report was extremely detailed and he provided hundreds of photos of the car's condition. I cannot speak highly enough about this man's professionalism, work ethic, and striving to produce the highest quality of service to his clients. And he's simply a good guy and let us know he's always open for any questions we might have. My mum was so impressed with him that we wanted to pay him an extra tip for his outstanding work (but was unsure if this was allowed under a business account). If you're looking for a pre-purchase inspection, this is the only company I can recommend. After looking around for other services, I found that other companies were not as comprehensive and lacked a few checks here and there (usually due to lacking necessary technology/equipment), which could be the difference between a good car and a lemon. And others like AA may be too focused on ticking boxes on their checklist and inspectors may not have the experience or willingness to let buyers know about problems that might not be on said checklist. I wanted a thorough inspection and full confidence in the used car I'd be buying from a private seller as they obviously have not obligations under the CGA, and Carl gave us just that. Wowza. Got a full mechanical inspection and report on a hybrid vehicle. The report was so comprehensive, easy to understand, received within 24 hours of the inspection and value for money. Super responsive to text messages and an easy system to navigate. Will use Incar Automotive again in the future for sure.

I paid $285 for a vehicle inspection with Incar Automotive, as I couldn't see the car myself. Regrettably, the inspection missed significant damage, including an ugly 5mm hole in the door trim, which I noticed soon after receiving the car. Incar admitted the mistake was "unacceptable," yet refused to refund the inspection fee, despite the repair costs exceeding the original fee. Choose someone else.

Absolutely top-notch inspection. This is the second time I have had a vehicle check by Carl and have been over the moon with the results both times. VERY in-depth inspection supplied with excellent reports and a myriad of photos showing everything that could be shown, including the results of some of the actual tests carried out. I was looking for a good mechanic to inspect a Mazda Axela and Carl had awesome reviews on Google. The cost was $165.. it may seem to be expensive although I went to the car dealership and Carl came in, he talked about the process and we basically did a test drive where he evaluated some points about the car. After the test drive he started looking the interior and exterior, plus checked many mechanical parts of the vehicle. This process took almost 2.5 hours and Carl was explaining everything that he found out. The final report is great in detail.. a good range of pictures from the car, plus a detailed written report about the things he has found, good and bad, what should be fixed and an explanation about all the process and technical information, so you can understand everything. Turns out the car was in a very good condition and Carl saved me some money by giving a small list of items to be changed before purchasing the vehicle. I already recommended Carl to a friend and if you are trying to find a good mechanic to inspect a vehicle.. Carl is the guy.

Review for Incar Automotive: Having used Incar Automotive for two inspections, I can confidently say I have complete trust in their services. Carl is exceptionally thorough, with great attention to detail. The reports are comprehensive, featuring photographs and videos to enhance the information provided. Carl also went above and beyond to fit us into his busy schedule, which was crucial as we were competing with several other interested buyers. Without his flexibility, we might have lost the purchase. The only downside of this mobile service is that I couldn't shake Carl's hand and tell him face-to-face what a fantastic and trustworthy service he provides. 100% would recommend.

Incar Automotive is simply the best pre-purchase inspection business around - no question about it. Carl spends several hours doing the inspection, takes literally hundreds of photos (I received nearly 500 photos), performs heaps of diagnostic tests, tests for head gasket leaks, scans the paintwork to find areas that have been repainted, uses thermal imaging…the list goes on. The report you receive is extremely clear, with items colour coded to reflect whether they are cosmetic points, defects needing repair or maintenance items that should be monitored. Carl also provides you with a wealth of diagnostic information about the car, as well as factsheets explaining what the reports mean. I’d recommend Incar Automotive if you’re just buying an ordinary petrol/diesel powered car, but particularly recommend Incar if you’re buying a hybrid or EV. Other pre-purchase inspection companies can’t test any of the high voltage components (including the high voltage battery), so if you get them to inspect a hybrid or EV they leave out a hugely important part. Alternatively, you have to get them to inspect the car, and then take it to a shop that specialises in hybrids and EVs to do the high voltage inspection, which is a total hassle (and some dealers won’t even let you take the car off their lot to do it, anyway!). Incar Automotive is fully mobile, so they can inspect all aspects of the vehicle (including the high voltage components) on-site, and do an extremely thorough job. The customer service is second to none. I texted Carl on the Sunday of a public holiday weekend and within 30 seconds to a minute later he’d texted me back to let me know he could do the inspection that Tuesday. Carl also prepares his reports overnight, so they’re in your inbox ready to read first thing in the morning. The pricing is also extremely reasonable. I simply can’t recommend Incar Automotive enough. If you’re buying a second hand vehicle, you have to get Carl from Incar Automotive to inspect it!

If you are looking for a competent, experienced, eager to help and a thorough inspector for your pre-purchase car inspection, Carl should be your ultimate choice!! Upon hiring him, Carl got in touch with the dealer and arranged a time for the mobile PPI himself. He performed a very in-depth inspection, including all sorts of tests and took detailed photos of the car. He wrote up this report the same night and I had my results the next morning. He emailed the report as well as all photos and test results. Later that morning we discussed the condition of the car and came to the conclusion that it was overpriced. Therefore, I began to look for other cars and Carl offered to have a look at the online adds I forwarded to him and give his opinions. He also suggested asking dealers for the Japanese auction reports, as they give a good first impression of the conditions of a car. I found this a very helpful tip!! Absolutely amazing service that Carl provides. Good quality photos, in-depth testing, solid communication.. you won't be disappointed with his inspections!!! For anyone reading this, he does check for absolutely anything he is able to find wrong with the car and I received over 500 photos including thermal imaging of the AC vents! Wow! Comprehensive battery checks, paint checks to see if the car has been in a crash, checks I didn't even know existed. He took my call on a Saturday and performed the inspection the following Monday. Carl completed a pre-purchase inspection for me on a Toyota Aqua and I found the thoroughness of his inspection (both mechanical and the hybrid system) and the detail of the report well and truly exceeded my expectations. He identified a few minor issues needing attention that I'd never have known about otherwise. These items were clearly highlighted in the report and he'd briefed the dealer also. In an extremely fortuitous turn of events, he happened to be doing another inspection at the same car yard when I picked up my car today so I was able to thank him directly. Carl did a pre-purchase inspection for me on a car I was looking at purchasing. I needed the inspection done over the weekend when AA and VTNZ were closed and so reached out to Carl. He was very accommodating with timing and was able to give me a quick rundown after the inspection before issuing the full report, which was super helpful. He was extremely thorough and checked so many things, even finding some previous damage and repair on the car which was practically invisible (I still can't see it!). His advice was very practical and helpful (e.g., he made it clear that the previous damage was minor and purely cosmetic, not affecting the function of the car) and I was very confident in proceeding with the purchase of the car after getting his green light. I was surprised by how detailed his inspection was, it took him over 3 hours just for the physical inspection of a Lexus I was interested in buying. He pointed out every single flaw and issue, to the point where he even recorded practically impossible to see windscreen chips. I ended up buying the car he inspected and I was very happy with the purchase. I will most definitely be using him again and again every time I am buying a new car. I just hope I didn't set the bar too high now for him now with this review, hahahaha :D but that is because of how satisfied and surprised I was with his service!!

This is the 2nd time I've used Carl's services and booked in a full check for a 2016 Mazda 3. This time round Carl checked even more parts of the car than before, he also took photos of every single bit of the car you could think of! Carl from Incar Automotive Ltd is a legend! I contacted him late on a Sat night and he undertook an inspection the next day on a Sun! The actual inspection took 2 hours and even the salesman commented on how thorough he is compared to everyone else. I received dozens of high quality photos and reports on more tests than anyone else advertises. Everything is then summarised into a final report and Carl took my follow up phone call when I had questions. There were a few findings with the vehicle and Carl even offered to follow up the next day because he had another job at the same car yard and was going to be there anyway. If you want the best inspection service likely in all of NZ, then Carl from Incar Automotive Ltd is your guy!

Carl did a pre-purchase inspection on a Prado for us at short notice. This was important to us as we wanted it checked before the weekend as we wanted to purchase it asap. We were replacing a stolen car so we had been 1 car down. He couldn't have been more helpful. He contacted me as soon as finished and gave a quick verbal opinion on the vehicle and outlined a couple of minor issues. He finished by saying "I would buy car". That was all I needed to hear. One of the best investments of money you could make! Carl is clearly highly knowledgeable & experienced, and helped us a ton. As people who don't know much about cars, there is no one better to have performing pre-purchase inspections than him. Value for money is solid, as his very impressive work gave me utmost peace of mind. Thorough checks, various tests and detailed reports alongside a plethora of photos - can't ask for more. Amazing top-notch service by Carl! We texted on Sunday morning yesterday to check whether he is available in the next couple of days. Like all the previous great reviews for Carl, I had a very positive experience using Carls services. Went see a Toyota Prius at a dealer on weekend, liked the car, called Carl to ask if he could possibly fit in a inspection at short notice same day, he said let me see if I can juggle some other jobs around, called me back to say he can do it in the afternoon. The inspection report that Carl sent back was absolutely amazing, the amount of details he checks and photos he sends back is so informative, based on Carls report gave me the confidence to go ahead and purchase the car.
