Used Incar Automotive due to stunning reviews and he didn't disappoint, the car from the dealer was 4.5 Japan import grade and Carl with a c found issues they needed to fix. Of course with it came a thorough test log, extensive pictures and videos and finally a summary of all of the car. The time and cost saved from the fix was alone was well worth the price for the inspection, not to mention the excellent and prompt responses to follow up questions from the report. He was extremely thorough and checked so many things, even finding some previous damage and repair on the car which was practically invisible (I still can't see it!). Above is my review from 2 years ago with Incar Automotive, I just purchased another car and Carl was my first and only port of call for the inspection. He gave me advice regarding an ill considered purchase I looked at with complete honesty and professionalism. The car I did purchase ex-rental corolla got a thorough inspection by Carl and passed with flying colours. If Carl was not happy I would not have considered the purchase. His reports are incredibly detailed with clear explanations of what to focus on, he is accommodating to work in with the seller and quick and easy to deal with. He has only gotten better since I first used him 2 years ago and I continue to recommend him to anyone I know looking for this type of service. Consummate professional and thoroughly pleasant to deal with, any money you spend with Carl will be money very well spent.

The pre-purchase inspection that Carl carried out on a Nissan Note hybrid for me was above anything I was expecting even after reading lots of reviews. It seems there was not a cm of the vehicle that he didn't check, test, photograph and report on. He was also very prompt in responding to text and phone queries and had the inspection carried out within 3 days of booking. I had the Option 2 inspection done and it is the best money I have ever spent. I am confident that the car I now own is going to be a safe and reliable vehicle for me thanks to Carl. Don't hesitate - book him in to check your would-be purchase!!!

I would highly recommend Carl if you're considering a pre-purchase inspection. He examined a Subaru Impreza I was eager to buy as my first car and quickly identified a major issue that would have cost me thousands in repairs. His professionalism was clear — he stopped the inspection immediately, charged me a reduced rate, and sent over photos and videos highlighting the fault as well as exterior damage I hadn't noticed. Will definitely be using his services again.

Incar Automotive is simply the best pre-purchase inspection business around - no question about it. Carl spends several hours doing the inspection, takes literally hundreds of photos (I received nearly 500 photos), performs heaps of diagnostic tests, tests for head gasket leaks, scans the paintwork to find areas that have been repainted, uses thermal imaging…the list goes on. The report you receive is extremely clear, with items colour coded to reflect whether they are cosmetic points, defects needing repair or maintenance items that should be monitored. Carl also provides you with a wealth of diagnostic information about the car, as well as factsheets explaining what the reports mean. I’d recommend Incar Automotive if you’re just buying an ordinary petrol/diesel powered car, but particularly recommend Incar if you’re buying a hybrid or EV. Other pre-purchase inspection companies can’t test any of the high voltage components (including the high voltage battery), so if you get them to inspect a hybrid or EV they leave out a hugely important part. Alternatively, you have to get them to inspect the car, and then take it to a shop that specialises in hybrids and EVs to do the high voltage inspection, which is a total hassle (and some dealers won’t even let you take the car off their lot to do it, anyway!). Incar Automotive is fully mobile, so they can inspect all aspects of the vehicle (including the high voltage components) on-site, and do an extremely thorough job. The customer service is second to none. I texted Carl on the Sunday of a public holiday weekend and within 30 seconds to a minute later he’d texted me back to let me know he could do the inspection that Tuesday. Carl also prepares his reports overnight, so they’re in your inbox ready to read first thing in the morning. The pricing is also extremely reasonable. I simply can’t recommend Incar Automotive enough. If you’re buying a second hand vehicle, you have to get Carl from Incar Automotive to inspect it!

Brilliant service by Carl at Incar Automotive. I phoned him late on Monday and he had managed to inspect the car by Tuesday evening (due to a cancellation). By Thursday morning I received the detailed inspection report as well as dozens of photos of the vehicle and images and videos from his testing software, confirming that the car was in very good nick. I doubt there is another outfit in Auckland that can do as thorough a job as Carl, especially for EVs or hybrids. Highly recommended.

I was eyeing a Lexus hybrid. It would cost me quite a lot (for me at least) so I was super careful. No upfront deposit, only until I got a pre-purchase inspection from Carl. His detailed reports were full of images, videos and information (if you are nerd enough to understand), also including a conclusion about the car. I especially care most about its hybrid battery. I really trust Carl's report on hybrid battery because it shows multiple information about the battery such as diff voltage between cells and internal cell resistant. Everything turned out great and I'll be getting the car, knowing it is a good buy. So totally recommended and would use him another time. Oh, forgot to mention, I used his service before on a Camry hybrid. He stopped the inspection after finding out that the car has a bad hybrid battery and would cost me a lot downstream. That also save me from paying for further inspection. This shows his integrity which is rare these days. Remember folks, post-purchase inspection is a bad idea, pre-purchase inspection is a good idea and pre-purchase inspection by Incarautomotive is the best idea. This is the way!

Overall summary can be improved to include a bit more detail. This is the 2nd time I've used Carl's services and booked in a full check for a 2016 Mazda 3. This time round Carl checked even more parts of the car than before, he also took photos of every single bit of the car you could think of! I really needed the inspection report for the next day and he stayed up until 1:30am that night writing it for me - Outstanding service and I was even able to negotiate $2k off the car price because of the detailed body photos.

Carl is the man! Rang up Carl on a Sunday to see if Carl could do a pre-purchase inspection ASAP as we desperately wanted to close the deal on a car before anyone else bought it. Despite some prior miscommunications of our own fault, Carl maintained the highest level of professionalism and went out of his way to re-arrange his busy schedule to accomodate us. Initially he said he was fully booked until Thursday, but on Monday (less than 24 hrs since I called) he found a way to do the inspection and we closed the deal with the seller on the same day. His report was extremely detailed and he provided hundreds of photos of the car's condition. I cannot speak highly enough about this man's professionalism, work ethic, and striving to produce the highest quality of service to his clients. And he's simply a good guy and let us know he's always open for any questions we might have. My mum was so impressed with him that we wanted to pay him an extra tip for his outstanding work (but was unsure if this was allowed under a business account). If you're looking for a pre-purchase inspection, this is the only company I can recommend. After looking around for other services, I found that other companies were not as comprehensive and lacked a few checks here and there (usually due to lacking necessary technology/equipment), which could be the difference between a good car and a lemon. And others like AA may be too focused on ticking boxes on their checklist and inspectors may not have the experience or willingness to let buyers know about problems that might not be on said checklist. I wanted a thorough inspection and full confidence in the used car I'd be buying from a private seller as they obviously have not obligations under the CGA, and Carl gave us just that. Carl completed a pre-purchase inspection for me on a Toyota Aqua and I found the thoroughness of his inspection (both mechanical and the hybrid system) and the detail of the report well and truly exceeded my expectations. He identified a few minor issues needing attention that I'd never have known about otherwise. These items were clearly highlighted in the report and he'd briefed the dealer also. Carl was able to come the next day for the battery pre-purchase inspection for the Toyota Aqua Hybrid I was looking at. He not only gave the battery a very comprehensive test but also a quick check of the transmission, brakes and high voltage components under the bonnet. He emailed an in depth report the following day and charged a very reasonable rate for his services. He was very helpful with advice and explaining how things work as I hadn't driven a hybrid before. Although an older car the battery was in very good condition and therefore the fuel economy should be as expected. Being a Toyota I wasn't so worried about mechanical maintenance costs. I have bought the car and am very happy with it. I would highly recommend Carl.

Very very thorough. Carl will capture every tiny detail that is on your car. He pointed out over a dozen things that I couldn’t spot by looking closely with my own eyes. He also provides a comprehensive report - should you need to prove the true condition of your car during a sale, Carl’s comprehensive report details it all. He will even deal directly with the dealer and also after the inspection is done, Carl keeps in touch and makes sure that the transaction with the dealership goes alright. Received a pre-purchase inspection from Incar Automotive. The first good sign was when the car yard owner called to say ‘I thought you had an AA inspector booked’. The car yard owner himself acknowledged that Carl does a thorougher job. With advanced technology for checking Hybrid battery health, I felt confident I wasn’t buying a lemon. I received many reports, documents, videos and photos from his inspection. Seriously high level. A month down the track I can confirm I didn’t buy a lemon, as reported. Carl's Pre-purchase inspections are invaluable. I had been looking at a extremely tidy looking 8 year old 'NZ new' car with a full dealership service history and I almost bought it without a professional inspection. But luckily I asked Carl to do an inspection and he identified rust issues and saved me a lot of time/money/hassle. Following this he inspected another car which I was able to buy with confidence after seeing his very thorough inspection report. I have in the past put a car I was selling through a AA pre-purchase inspection for a potential buyer and their inspection far inferior to the INCAR inspection.

This is my second time asking Carl for his help after 3 years. His inspection & reports seems more and more comprehensive than before. Really appreciated that he can look in to very detail of the car and found something that I haven't noticed. Instead of just pass or fail, he had also put his professional recommendation to you car to make sure you can aware of your car condition as well. His banned list provides a good reference as well preventing us going to some dealers that is not trust-worthy.

Carl has done 2 inspections of hybrids for me. He was super-efficient, professional and reasonably priced, and provided incredibly detailed reports, including a video of the hybrid battery tests. We were so impressed with our Battery Health Check from Carl at Incar Automotive for a hybrid car we were considering buying. We received a highly detailed summary report created from several pages of detailed data from multiple tests and 60+ detailed photos showing everything that was checked including the digital dashboard functions and 20+ thermal imaging pictures of the interior. If only we had known about Incar earlier, we would have definitely chosen to do a Pre-Purchase 360° Full Inspection with Carl. Unfortunately, we only heard about them after doing a Pre-purchase Inspection check with a much more well known company, where for the same price as Incar's Battery Health Check, all we received was a tick sheet of everything that was checked, a one sentence basic report summary with a couple of sentences on various aspects of the check and 7 photos. I can't recommend Incar highly enough for anyone wanting a thorough, detailed, in depth Pre-Purchase Inspection/Check.

He provided a very detailed report, identified some issues that turned out to be deal breakers, and gave me excellent advice on my purchase. wonderful wonderful experience!! such an easy guy to work with, Carl is incredibly transparent and knowledgeable about what he does especially hybrids, had 2 cars checked -he didn't charge a travelling fee the second time and he fit me into his already tight schedule which was so kind.
